Deep-engraved metal code
The last character of every plate code is a checksum over the rest, keyed by a secret that never leaves our servers. A code that does not recompute is counterfeit on its face — no registry lookup required.

Cryptographic tamper chip
A secure element inside the piece holds an AES key set at manufacture that it will not export. Every tap signs a fresh message carrying a counter the chip increments itself, so a copied link verifies once and never again — the signature proves the chip is genuine, the counter proves the tap is happening now.
Built and tested. Live once the tags are programmed and set into pieces.
Ownership registry
Every plate ID lives in the registry with its current verified owner and full chain of custody. A piece reported stolen is frozen — the plate ID itself is burned and can never verify or trade again.

How a coerced transfer is stopped
The Village's release process — see the Village — already puts a trained reviewer and a private safe word between a threat and a completed transfer: the reviewer is trained to spot coercion, and every account carries a safe word that silently cancels a release while appearing to approve it. A longer duress layer — a second silent PIN, a hold on large transfers, trusted contacts who get called rather than messaged — is planned but not live, and this page will not claim otherwise until it is.
