Every genuine Moody carries a 22-digit serial recorded in the registry. Nothing rests on one tag or one chip: each piece is checked on independent layers, built on different technologies, so defeating one never defeats the rest.

The rule the whole system is built on
A Moody can be copied visually. A genuine Moody identity cannot simply be invented. We do not claim a Moody is impossible to counterfeit — nothing is. The standard is that a counterfeit should not pass the official Moody Mobb authentication process.
9″ Tech Moody · three independent layers
Three independent layers on three different technologies. The higher-value piece, and the one that trades deepest in the Village, gets the full system.
Cryptographic chip
A secure chip inside the Moody holds a key it will not export. Every tap is signed and carries a counter the chip advances itself, so a copied link verifies once and never again.
Built and tested. Live once the chips are programmed and set into pieces.
Forensic markers
A deep-engraved plate and proprietary physical markers in the piece itself. Some can be seen; others only the official process knows how to find and read.

Registry record
One record ties the serial to the Moody, its original production record, its verified owner and every transfer since. A serial that is not in the registry is not a Moody.

Two checkpoints on the plush itself and the registry record behind them. No electronics inside — the plush is authenticated on its own.
Authenticity code
A sewn-in label carrying the serial and a printed authenticity code that only Moody Mobb can issue or verify. Nothing electronic: a made-up code fails, and the registry knows which plush each code belongs to.

What a check tells you
Genuine
Every layer passed. This is the registered Moody.
Registered
This serial is a registered Moody identity in good standing. A serial can be copied, so it does not prove the piece in your hand is that Moody — tap its chip to finish.
Invalid
That number does not read correctly — most often a typo. Check each digit and try again. Nothing is concluded about any piece.
Not found
No registered piece carries this serial. That alone does not make a piece fake — contact the house and it will be examined.
Counterfeit
The house examined this piece and its physical markers do not match the registered one.
Mismatch
This serial belongs to another registered object. Or: the authenticity code does not belong to this serial. check both for typos; if they are right, have the piece examined.
Frozen
This identity is frozen in the registry and cannot verify or transfer.
Inconclusive
The registry could not be reached. Nothing is concluded — try again shortly.
A serial on its own ends at Registered, never at Genuine: a number can be photographed and copied. Tapping the chips, and the official check of the physical markers, are what prove the object in your hand is the one in the registry. And if the registry cannot be reached, the answer is Inconclusive — never an accusation.

What we publish, and what we don’t
Collectors know the layers exist. Counterfeiters do not get the details.
This page says which layers every piece carries and what each one proves. It will never say:
- the composition of the proprietary markers and paint
- where every hidden identifier sits
- how the forensic reader works
- any cryptographic key
- the internal counterfeit-detection rules
A counterfeiter cannot deliberately reproduce a feature they do not understand, and cannot make a chip answer correctly without a key they will never have.
Where genuine pieces come from
New pieces
Every new Moody comes from Moody Mobb and its authorized channels, and is registered to its first owner at sale.
Resale
A genuine Moody stays genuine when it is resold. It changes hands through the Village, or through any sale that completes official authentication and ownership transfer.
The buyer’s money
Held by a regulated payment and escrow provider — never by Moody Mobb — while the piece is authenticated, its ownership checked and its condition confirmed. If any of that fails, the money is not released to the seller. The provider is being selected; no resale runs until it is in place.
What a counterfeit does not get
A registry entry. An ownership history. A transfer through the Village as genuine. Official authentication. Provenance. Resale credibility. Or any benefit attached to genuine pieces, now or later.

Live authentication
A specialist checks the piece on camera before you buy. Recorded, and the recording is attached to the piece.
Escrow handover
Funds are held while the piece ships overnight, insured, and is opened on the call. The registry only moves the record when both confirm.
Recorded condition report
Walk the piece round on camera. Timestamped, signed, and stored against the serial.
Concierge appointment
Placement, insurance, shipping and mansion fit-out. Booked, not queued.
Duress protection
How a coerced transfer is stopped
The Village's release process — see the Village — already puts a trained reviewer and a private safe word between a threat and a completed transfer: the reviewer is trained to spot coercion, and every account carries a safe word that silently cancels a release while appearing to approve it. A longer duress layer — a second silent PIN, a hold on large transfers, trusted contacts who get called rather than messaged — is planned but not live, and this page will not claim otherwise until it is.
If a piece is reported stolen
Theft reports are filed by the owner with one button in the Village app. Pressing it does two things at once: the piece is frozen in the registry, so it can’t be sold, transferred or verified as clean, and its tracking array inside the Moody switches on and becomes active. Until that button is pressed, the array stays dormant and reports its position to no one — including us. 9″ Tech Moody only; the 6″ plush has no electronics.
