Trading on the Village

Nothing moves unless you release it

A Moody cannot be resold, re-registered, or reactivated by whoever happens to be holding it. The registry only accepts a transfer that the recorded owner personally releases — and the release is deliberately slow, on purpose, so a person under pressure has a way out.

01

Owner opens the release

Started from the registered account only. A holder without the account cannot begin one.

02

Email verification

A signed confirmation goes to the address of record. Changing that address restarts the clock from zero.

03

Live video release

Face to face with a house reviewer — not a recording. The piece is shown, the plate is read, the owner states the release.

04

Duress check & cooling period

The reviewer is trained to spot coercion, and every account carries a private safe word that silently cancels the transfer while appearing to approve it.

05

Registry writes the transfer

Only then does the plate change hands, with the whole release logged to the chain of custody forever.

If a piece is reported stolen

The tracking array is dormant by default and is only ever woken on an owner-filed theft report. Until then it does not report position to anyone — including us.

Buying from another collector

Buy direct from Moody Mobb and the house is your counterparty — none of this applies. Buy from another collector and it all does, because the person a private sale knows least about is the one arriving with the money. Caveat emptor is the wrong way round for a registry, so on a private sale the buyer is the one who gets checked.

01

Offer

A buyer names a price on a specific listed piece. Nothing is collected and no identity is checked until the seller says yes — there is nothing to verify yet.

02

Accepted

Once the seller accepts, the buyer’s funds move into escrow immediately and stay there through the call, the handover, and past it.

03

Booked

A live vetting call is scheduled with the soonest available independent agent. The scheduler runs around the clock across time zones — the middle of the night somewhere is still a real slot.

04

Identity

Full KYC, live on camera: a government photo ID, front and back, or a passport photo page; a liveness check; and the document held beside the buyer’s face in one frame. Nothing is accepted from a gallery upload.

05

Vetter

An independent, background-checked vetter who works for neither the house nor the seller confirms on the record that the portrait matches, the document is genuine and in date, and the paying name matches the account. The safe word is asked here too.

06

Meet

Only once cleared is the buyer told where to collect. Both parties confirm presence in the app, the plate and chip are scanned against the registry, and condition is agreed on camera. No cash or transfer happens at the meeting itself.

07

Separation

Escrow holds until both devices have been apart for a fixed distance and time. Re-approaching resets the clock, and either side can freeze the funds with one tap.

08

Released

The registry transfers and the funds move at the same moment, once the separation window clears.

Fixed distanceSeparation required

Escrow will not release while the two devices are still close enough for the handover to be forced.

ContinuousHeld apart, not momentary

Re-approaching inside the window resets the clock to zero. There is no partial credit for stepping away briefly.

Either sideCan freeze it

One tap holds the funds and raises the desk, silently — the other party is not told it happened.

What this policy doesn’t replace

A peer-to-peer listing marketplace is not live yet — this describes the process a private sale on the Village is designed to run under, not a service available today. Identity verification, biometric comparison, call recording, holding client funds in escrow, and a location-based release each carry their own licensing, consent and filing requirements that differ by state and by country. None of that is satisfied by software alone; real counsel, registrations and filings come before the first private sale runs through this process, and the exact separation distance and hold time are policy to be set with an insurer and counsel, not fixed here in advance.
